4.7. Priority Scheduling

Priority Appointments help clinics provide timely care for vulnerable pets.

At high-volume clinics, demand often exceeds available appointment slots. The Priority Appointments feature addresses this by giving designated clients first access to priority appointment times, increasing their chances of booking online.

The feature integrates with the E-appointment form, where clients answer eligibility questions before priority slots are shown.


How to Use Priority Appointments for Targeted Scheduling

Priority Appointments are allocated to public clients who request appointments online through the E-appointment system.

  • To set up this feature, go to Settings > Priority Scheduling Setup.

Why Priority Appointments Were Developed

Many high-volume clinics experience greater demand than available appointment capacity. This often forces staff to place clients on long waitlists or decline appointment requests.

The Priority Appointments feature was developed to:

  • Ensure access for priority clients and animals: Reserve space for identified high-priority cases.
  • Provide enhanced scheduling tools: Extend scheduling capabilities to balance demand with clinic goals.
  • Reduce staff burden: Limit the need to turn away clients and ease pressure on staff.
  • Support targeted care: Focus resources on specific geographic or demographic populations served by the clinic.

Important Notes

  • Priority Appointments do not hold back slots that are already open for booking.
  • They are designed to improve access to future appointments.
  • Be sure to review and adjust your scheduling settings to use this feature effectively.
