5. Making Spay/Neuter Appts

In this section, you will learn how to schedule Spay/Neuter (S/N) appointments step by step. We’ll walk through the process of scheduling internal appointments for both public and volume clients, as well as managing external appointment requests. Because Spay/Neuter services are one of the core functions of Clinic HQ, accurate scheduling is essential.

Why Proper Scheduling Matters

Spay/Neuter surgeries must always be recorded under a designated Spay/Neuter appointment type. This ensures:

  • Accurate reporting for clinic records and compliance.
  • Consistency across client files and appointment data.
  • Clarity for staff and clients regarding the type of procedure being performed.

⚠️ Important: You cannot add a Spay/Neuter surgery to another appointment type (such as “Wellness Exam” or “Dental”), as this would compromise reporting accuracy.

Handling Combined Services

If a client is scheduled for multiple services (for example, a dental procedure and a spay/neuter surgery), the appointment must be categorized as Spay/Neuter. Any additional services can then be added on to the Spay/Neuter appointment.

This workflow ensures that all Spay/Neuter data is properly captured while still allowing flexibility for clients who need multiple services during a single visit.
